MAYDAY! MAYDAY!

Well I am almost out of time so I may well have been shouting for help if I'd left this any longer, LOL, but here I am finally.
As usual for this year I had a hard time putting my cards together again this month, I don't know why that is because we only have to use one item from our envelope on each card (more if we want of course) and whichever technique we have chosen, but somehow I am finding it very difficult.
Still I got there eventually, and managed 2 cards from Liz's parcel & 3 from Pat's, so let's get the show on the road .....

I chose heat embossing as my technique for Liz's parcel and was quite pleased with my results as it's something I've only done a few times before.

Card no 2 from Liz's parcel, I wasn't sure about this one but I like it now it's done

So onto Pat's parcel and this time I chose die cutting ......... these 3 are all fairly simple cards but I like them,

No.2 a very simple card indeed but I think it came out ok

and no.3 another one for my Christmas stash which is building up nicely
So there we are, May cards made and blogged just before the month finishes!!
My favourites? .................. the 1st one of Liz's two and the 1st one of Pat's.

CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY!!!!!!!!

Hello, it's April ............. and we are making Christmas Cards!! Well you have to start early or run out of time, LOL, the months speed along sooooo fast ..... or is that just me getting old?
Anyway, no techniques this month just the theme Christmas.
So here we go, starting with my parcel from Pat ....

For this one I just wanted to do something a bit different, it was actually the last card I made and the others were all fairly simple so I played around a little more with bits & pieces of paper and came up with this ..

This one was very simple, a stripey background paper and the greetings cut out in a tree shape ......... I did add some little peel off pieces around the tree and a starry snowflake shape on the top just so I felt I'd done a bit more than I did!!

Onto my parcel from Liz then .....

This turned out to be my favourite this month (although I liked them all), I wasn't sure about it at first but the more I looked at it the more I liked it.

Another very simple one, background paper, a picture & a greeting ..... I like it though.

I have noticed that each month both Liz & Pat manage to send me at least 1 piece almost the same, this month they both included a stripey piece of paper and a round Robin picture!!

Now one more card this month which was easier than easy! I used a piece of paper that came from a box of chocolates last Christmas and a greeting ..... that was it!!!!
So there we are, I've caught up with March and I've done Aprils ............ can't be bad, LOL.
See you next month.

I'M LATE ..... VERY LATE .....

In fact I'm a whole month late!!!! I had a lovely crafting day with Liz in March and made my monthly cards ....... then somehow the month got away from me and suddenly it was April and I still hadn't blogged my March cards!!!! So here I am catching up.
Our techniques to choose from this month were Zentangle (i love Zentangle but haven't yet used it on a card!), Embossing & Rubber Stamping.
I made 2 cards from each parcel so let's get on with the show ... first Pat's parcel, for which I chose embossing as my technique, ...........

For this one I used a lovely bit of embossed paper Pat had included along with a little picture & greeting also from the parcel.

Again the background paper was my embossed piece, although it doesn't show very well here.

Now onto my parcel from Liz and for this one I chose Rubber stamping.
A very simple card here with a little stamped bird and some lovely spotty paper.
Again a fairly simple card, the flowers were stamped and then cut out.

And finally my piece using all three techniques, .... this took me ages to do and eventually I ended up making a little tag, ....... I zentangled the background, cut out the stamped image of the little mice under the flower and used an embossed piece of paper for a frame.

So there we are, I have caught up with March .............. now to do Aprils before the months over!!!!!

FEBRUARY PARCELS

Well after a very unexpected short stay in hospital I can now blog my February cards ...... I had them all made and ready when I was struck with a nasty reoccurring chest infection! All is ok now though so let's get on ........... our three technique choices this month were diecutting, matting & layering or peel offs. I had a hard time deciding which of these too use as initially I wanted to use the same one for both parcels, and although that is allowed we did say that we would try to use a different technique on each.
Eventually I made my decisions and here are my cards .....

So, first up 2 cards from Liz's parcel using diecutting.
This one used bits from the parcel only, I die cut the "spiky" circle and the image, then used the backing paper which matched with the red.

This one was very similar, again the diecut backing circle & image, the beautiful butterfly paper and the ribbon trim.

So onto my parcel from Pat, and for this one I eventually decided on matting and layering for my technique.
A fairly simple card with the image matted and layered onto a background piece of card then onto the dotty background paper, a piece of ribbon and a little tag to complete.

For this one I used an image of my own that just seemed to go lovely with the paper Pat had included,

Lastly my card using all three techniques ............. I diecut the circle from the background paper which came from Liz's parcel, used peel offs to decorate the cut out bit along with a little image from Pat's parcel and matted and layered a couple of strips of leftover paper along the bottom as decoration with a little flower as an added touch.
All in all I am pleased with my cards this month especially as I was already suffering the chest infection which eventually laid me so low!!!!!

IT'S BEEN A WHILE BUT I'M BACK!

Yes I took a break from card making over Christmas so it's been a while since I posted anything new but I'm back now .......... and so are our monthly challenges. This year rather than have a theme each month we decided to choose 3 techniques (one each), the idea being we would use one technique for each parcel. We only have to use 1 item for a parcel and can add our own bits for the rest if we want ........ we also decided that greetings and embellishments did not count for the technique part.
I actually managed to use mainly bits from my parcels .......... not sure if that was good work on my part, or clever choices of bits by Liz & Pat!
Our choice of techniques for January were Punches, Rubber Stamping and Brayering.
So here are my cards, 2 from each parcel ......

For my parcel from Liz I chose to use Rubber Stamping. Liz had already stamped this image and put in my parcel so along with the 2 backing papers I only had to add a greeting. I did wipe some ink over the image to make it look more sky like.

Most of this came from my parcel again, the 2 backing papers, tag & butterfly. I stamped Happy Birthday all over the brown paper and added the dotty bit of ribbon and little gems in the corners.

For Pat's parcel I choose punches. Again most bits came from the parcel. I added the punched border and the greeting. I also used a punch to round corners.

My second card from Pat's parcel was quite similar to the first. I added the punched border and greeting and the rest came from the parcel. Again I used a punch to round corners as well.

After we had made our cards Liz and I sat chatting about them and ended up challenging each other to make a card using all 3 techniques!! Here is what I came up ..........I used my brayer to add some blue ink to a piece of paper from Pat's parcel, and was pleased with how that came out. I then rubber stamped the images on and was again pleased as I am not good at stamping! Then I took a left over little piece of green card from Liz's parcel, shape the corners with a corner punch and added a greeting.
I like this one ................. well I like them all which is a surprise.
Looking forward to February now.

NOVEMBER'S CHALLENGE!!

Well for November Pat very nicely chose the theme "Earth, Fire, Wind & Water" ........ doesn't sound too difficult does it? HaHa, I don't think any of us found it as easy as we expected! Both my parcels contained lots of lovely bits and pieces as always but, unlike some months where pieces almost shout at me to put them together, this month nothing was even whispering!! Just a ghostly silence as I perused what I'd been given ............ and I needed to make at least 4 cards from each parcel. For the first time I felt failure creeping in, but I don't give up easily and slowly 1 card emerged, then another, then (with the aid of a few images from my stash) I had my cards, 4 from Pat's parcel & 5 from Liz's.
So here they are, Pat's first .........

This one is obviously "wind", the cloudy background and the hot-air balloons made me think of the wind pushing them around the sky.

I did think this was cheating a little but as Pat had included the words it just had to be "Earth"

"Fire" .... my own image on this one, a lovely log fire

And finally "Water",
So I was pleased with those 4, ......... now onto the cards from Liz's parcel ..........

Firstly we have "Wind" .......... you need a nice windy day to fly a kite

Secondly we have "Fire" ............. slight artistic licence maybe but candles have flames and flames equal fire!

The another "Fire" one

Onto "Earth" ........ I loved this picture Liz included and it didn't need much to turn it into a lovely (IMO) card

And lastly "Water" ........ you can't sail your boat without it

So that's November done and another year of monthly challenges completed, I've complained at times, despaired frequently ......... and thoroughly enjoyed every one of those challenges and now look forward to next years.
But .......... first there is something I look forward to maybe a little more, Decembers advent parcels! My inner child comes out when I wake on the 1st and realise it's time to start opening those little parcels .......... I love it!!!!!

I MADE IT ......... JUST!!!!!!

Phew!! I was almost late with my October cards but I made it by the skin of my teeth. This month the theme was "Spots" ............ by the time I finished I was seeing spots before my eyes! My parcels contained soooooo many beautiful spotty papers I didn't know where to start. Eventually I made 3 cards from each parcel ......... so let's start with the results of my parcel from Pat, .........

I really wasn't sure where I was going with this one, I wanted to use at least 1 of the lovely spotty circles Pat included ........ I realised it would fit the centre of a small doily and went from there. I puzzled over the topper for a while though but eventually I found this flower one that fitted the circle nice and went with the colours.

I like this one ......... and not just because it's red!!! It's bright and cheerful

Very similar to the one above but I think I used all the inspiration I had on the first one, LOL

So onto my parcel from Liz ...........

All fairly straightforward here, this one didn't scan well for some reason. I put the topper and layered card to the side just for a bit of difference. The topper was from my own stash as it was all I could find that matched!

I like this one, very simple and quick to make. I used my own flowers on it again.

Another very quick & easy one, but probably my favourite of the lot.

So that's the October cards ................ bring on Novembers!!!
